Description
Founded in 1959 by tequila pioneer Don Jorge Salles Cuervo, El Tequileño was named to honour the people of Tequila, Mexico and has since gained a reputation for its products among consumers and customers.
Third-generation master distiller, Antonio Salles, still uses the same processes his grandfather devised to produce the brand's tequilas. The range is certified additive-free and all six expressions are made using sustainable techniques, with 98 per cent of residuals from the production process recycled and turned into fertiliser for new agave plants.
El Tequieño Platinum is 100% agave and left to mellow for 14 days in large American oak barrels which gives it a more rounded and balanced complexity of flavours. Delicious to sip neat or make premium mixed drinks and cocktails.

Lou Agave: 'Aromas start off with a little bit of alcohol, its grassy, herbal, nice sweet cooked agave, some fruit (melon), a hint of anise, some pepper, spice, light smoke, floral, and mint. I don't usually like blanco rested in wood, but this is an exception. The taste followed through, as it was smooth and soft, with anise, pepper, light fruit, citrus, cooked agave and minerals. There was a little bit of heat on the back end. A real solid blanco.'
Ray MacRaild: 'Really great off the nose and only gets better as it goes! Nothing but roasted agave and a little bubble gum on the ending, this might be a new house pour.'
Remy Newland: 'Nose: You need to give this some breathing time to coax out the bouquet. Warm, round agave aromas. Bright spices and peppery earthiness. Both lemon and orange citrus notes. Maybe melon or mango. Subtle herbal scent of dill and thyme. Flavor: Medium viscosity with a sweet and punchy agave/pepper kick off. The spices and citrus follow the nose, with the addition of silky salted caramel and anise. The flavours are much more dynamic than the aromas.'
