Jalapeno Cheese Balls make a perfect side dish and also looks great on your snack/cheese platter.
You can make it from any leftover cheese in your fridge when having unexpected guests in your house.
Additional details
- Makes 16 Cheese Balls:
- 1 egg
- 100g of cream cheese
- 100g of grated mozzarella
- 100g of grated cheddar
- 75g of chopped jalapenos (optional)
- 50g of flour
- Breadcrumbs to roll/cover
- 1l of any frying oil
- Sauces to dip in:
- Cool Chile Ranchero Sauce
- Cool Chile Tomatillo Salsa
- Cool Chile Chipotle Salsa
Additional details
1.- Beat the egg together with the cream cheese.
2.- Mix-in grated mozzarella and cheddar.
3.- Finely chop jalapenos and add them into the cheese
4.- Add flour and mix.
5.- Form small balls of 25g (wet your hands with a drop of cold water, so the dough does not stick to your hands).
6.- Cover the Cheese Balls with breadcrumbs.
7.- Deep-fry the Cheese balls until golden brown (they will get darker once taken out of the pan). Once ready, place the Cheese Balls on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
8.- Give a couple of minutes to cool down, serve with salsas and dips of your choice.
TIPS:
-Cream cheese must be 1/3 of your total cheese.
-Gouda, emmental, or any other easy-to-melt cheese can replace mozzarella and cheddar.
-For extra crust, cover the Cheese Balls with flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs.
